New Hyde Park Memorial High School student Nicole Joseph was recognized at the Tribeca Film Festival for a short film she entered into the nationwide Speak Truth to Power Video Contest.

Joseph placed second out of 512 entries, all of which were described by the judges as extremely high quality. The contest, sponsored by the Robert F. Kennedy Center for Justice and Human Rights, strives to help students identify themselves as human rights defenders and is open to students, grades 7-12.

Nicole’s video addresses the work of Mohamed ElBaradei and what society can do to make the world a safer place.
