NYSEA Surf Week

The NYSEA Surf Week began Wednesday, July 13, and runs through Sunday, July 17. The five-day event offers kids and open surf contests, kids and open skateboard contests, open charity surf events, parties, an arts show, beach and boardwalk vending, and concerts presented by NYSEA. The open surfing contest features both professional and local surfers. Activities will take place between Edwards Boulevard and National Boulevard beach. St. Mary of the Isle holds Summer Fair

St. Mary of the Isle Parish is having its annual Summer Fair from Thursday, July 14 to Sunday, July 17 at East Park Avenue and Monroe Boulevard. The event spans from 6 to 11 p.m. on Thursday and Friday and 5 to 11 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. Admission is free, and there will be international foods, rides, music and games, as well as gambling, which will be available until midnight on Saturday in the air-conditioned hall.

Waterfront Warriors 5K and parade

On Sunday, July 17 at 8 a.m., the Waterfront Warriors 5K race will begin on the boardwalk at New York Avenue and Long Beach Catholic Regional School. A welcome parade for the soldiers is slated for 3 p.m. at Ohio and Beech streets to New York Avenue, which will be followed by a barbecue at LBCRS.

Beach Movie Nights

Beachgoers can see “Star Wars: The Force Awakens,” on Saturday, July 16, at New York Avenue at 8 p.m. The West End Neighbors Civic Association, Westholme Civic Association, North East Bay and Canals Civic Association, and Eastholme Civic Association are hosting Movie Nights on the Beach events this year. All events will take place on Saturdays through Sept. 17 (except Sept. 10).
