Partners in the investigation included the U.S. Attorney, the FBI, the IRS, Suffolk County District Attorney’s office and the New York City Police Department Internal Affairs Bureau.

“This brazen crew used local homes and businesses as their personal piggybanks and with so much stolen over so long a period of time, this was a highly organized, systematic, professional team of criminals,” Rice said.

Langone said that Camarano is specifically charged with two acts that occurred a few days apart. “He is not charged with being part of a larger conspiracy,” Langone said. “He denies any involvement.”

Camarano, as well as his co-defendants, pleaded not guilty. He was released after posting $100,000 bail and was due back in court on Jan. 14.
