All 5 Bellmore-Merrick school budgets pass

Voters overwhelmingly passed school budgets in the Bellmore-Merrick Central High School, Bellmore, Merrick, North Bellmore and North Merrick school districts. The vote tally was as follows:

Bellmore-Merrick Central High School District: 4,638 yes votes, 3,546 no votes

Bellmore Elementary School District: 936 yes votes, 705 no votes

Merrick Elementary School District: 1,243 yes votes, 918 no votes

North Bellmore Elementary School District: 1,708 yes votes, 1,195 no votes

North Merrick Elementary School District: 1,002 yes votes, 721 no votes

There were two opposed races for local school boards this year. In the Merrick School District, incumbents Gina Piskin and Joann Seibert were re-elected, defeating challenger Maria DiCarlo. In the North Merrick School District, newcomer George “Skip” Haile defeated Anthony Vitale for an open seat on the board.
