Ambulance, car crash head on in North Valley Stream

A serious accident between a Nassau County police ambulance and another vehicle was reported on Franklin Avenue in North Valley Stream on Thursday evening.

The accident was reported shortly before 7 p.m. on Nov. 11. The ambulance, which was transporting someone to Franklin Hospital, was struck head-on by another vehicle. The accident occured near the hospital, just south of the Southern State Parkway.

Police report that there were minor injuries to four people, and those hurt were transported to area hospitals. According to reports, one ambulance officer was taken to Nassau University Medical Center.

The Malverne Fire Department was on scene and had to extricate drivers from both vehciles, according to atuhorities.

The driver of the vehicle, a 26-year-old from Valley Stream was arrested and is facing assault and drug charges. The investigation is still ongoing.
