American Legion hosts a barbecue

Upon becoming a member of the Merrick American Legion Post 1282, one forms a bond with other members that does not break, legionnaires say. The group holds regular monthly meetings, with games, good food and discussions on how to better the community.
One of those monthly get-togethers was held recently in the form of a barbecue at the Merrick post, at 160 Merrick Road. The barbecue was well attended by post and auxiliary members, past and present, and there was not an empty plate in the house.
