Appreciating the outgoing Congregation Sons of Israel president

Congregation Sons of Israel of Woodmere will recognize its outgoing president, Stewart Lyons, and his wife, Natalie, at its 89th annual dinner/dance at the synagogue at 111 Irving Place in Woodmere on Sunday, June 4 at 5 p.m.

The couple joined the shul in 1982, and became immersed in is activities. Stewart began as the youth director overseeing the United Synagogue Youth, Kadima and pre-Kadima groups. He eventually became the coordinator for all the USY groups on the South Shore of Nassau County.

Stewart served as the Men’s Club president, on the Pa’am B’’Chodesh planning committee, chairman of the school board and financial secretary. Natalie was a board member for more than 10 years.

She served as recording secretary and is on the Honorary board. Both have been involved with the synagogue’s Couples Club Program Committee members and on the Cultural Committee. The Woodmere residents have been married since 1964.
