Chair yoga classes

The Elmont Memorial Library will be holding a chair yoga class on April 17 at 1 p.m. This class can help guests reduce stress, increase flexibility and enhance an overall feeling of wellness. The class is for all levels. Online or in-person registration is required for Elmont library cardholders. No over-the-phone registration will be accepted. Willem de Koonig art workshop

The Long Island Children’s Museum is presenting a special art workshop on April 19 at 6 p.m. at the Henry Waldinger Memorial Library. Fifth-graders through high school seniors will work on a group project or their own project that will be displayed at the Long Island Children’s Museum in the summer. ‘Moana’ screening at the library

Children between grades kindergarten and sixth grade can watch Disney’s “Moana” on April 20 at 6:30 p.m. at the Henry Waldinger Memorial Library. The movie takes place in ancient Polynesia, where a curse incurred by the demigod Maui reaches Moana’s homeland. Now, Moana must embark on a journey to get the curse lifted. Registration is required for the screening, with preference given to Valley Stream cardholders.

At home with “Olive & Pearl”

Visit with Olive, a young girl being raised by her granny, Pearl, on the Long Island Children’s Museum stage, Thursday and Friday, April 13 and 14, 11:30 a.m. Sit in Olive and Pearl’s home in this intimate show, specifically created for young audiences. Throughout their day, Granny builds a fire, warms tea, makes meals, and has a comforting lap for Olive. Info: (516) 224-5800 or www.licm.org.

When dinosaurs roamed the earth

Step back into time to prehistoric days at Garvies Point Museum and Preserve in Glen Cove. The preserve welcomes families to it annual “Dinosaur Day,” Saturday, April 15, 11 am.-4 p.m. Participate in a variety of hands-on activities that include examining fossils, a “fossil dig” and creating a fossil to take home, and even dress up like a dinosaur.
