An autopsy determined that the baby remains found at Sanitary District 1 was stillborn and female.

The baby remains found at the Sanitary District 1 facility in Lawrence on Oct. 22 was stillborn, according to an autopsy conducted by the Nassau County Medical Examiner. The fetus was female.
A fetus was discovered among debris at the trash and recycling center at 2 Bay Blvd. Police said the umbilical cord was still attached.
Fourth Squad detectives, concerned about the physical and mental well-being of the birthmother request anyone with information regarding her identity to contact them at (516) 573-6553.
