Fidelis Care and Nassau County Legislator Kevan Abrahams sponsored a Back to School Fair at the Freeport Recreation Center on Saturday, August 8, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. The fair provided free school supplies and health screenings, along with refreshments and music, face painting and an inflatable bounce room for toddlers.

Fidelis Care handed out close to 1,000 backpacks and hundreds of school supplies. A variety of free screenings were available, including blood pressure and body mass index. The Town of Hempstead was on hand to offer child safety kits, with photographs and fingerprints. Radio station Hot 97 played music.

The Back to School Health Fair was one of more than a hundred events that Fidelis Care is taking part in across the state as part of its efforts to help communities receive the information about free or low cost health insurance coverage for children under age 19 through the state-sponsored program, Child Health Plus. Fidelis Care is part of the New York State Catholic Health Plan.
