Doctor Beverly Adler, a certified diabetes educator and Baldwin resident who also practices in town, gave a reading and donated two copies of her book to the Baldwin Public Library on May 6. Adler’s book, “My Sweet Life: Successful Women with Diabetes,” details the experience of a diverse group of 24 women sharing their insights about balancing their lives with their condition. The book is targeted at newly-diagnosed women who are feeling overwhelmed, but Adler, who has lived with diabetes for 36 years, says it would “make a great gift for any mom (or any woman) with diabetes for Mother’s Day.”

“It is my great honor and privilege to donate two copies of my book to the Baldwin Public Library,” Adler told the Herald. “As a resident of Baldwin who also works here and is active in the community, I am very happy to support our library by donating these books.” Adler, a clinical psychologist and member of the Baldwin Lions Club, added that a portion of the proceeds from her book will benefit the American Diabetes Association.
