Astoria Federal hosts 'In the Neighborhood' themed competition

Baldwin High School student Nicole Gardianos was one of 12 winners in the Astoria Federal Savings’ annual Teen Photo Contest. Participating teens submitted photos to creatively reflect the theme “From the Neighborhood.”
Nearly 600 entries were submitted by students from more than 50 high schools in Nassau, Suffolk, Queens, Brooklyn and Westchester Counties. The winning photos were chosen based on their composition, clarity, and originality in depicting the theme. Nicole entered a photo of a group of girls’ lacrosse players in a team huddle. She won a $250 cash prize, and Baldwin High School received a $100 grant for the art department.
