Barnum Woods’ students jog for Japan

Posted

Students and staff at Barnum Woods Elementary School participated in a school wide walk/jog event in May, which was inspired by fifth-grade students Jake Schneebaum, Dylan Meehan and Hrithik Sundri.

“Japan has been struck by earthquakes and tsunamis and the people here have suffered terribly. We want to help them rebuild homes, schools, businesses and the community…All the money [collected] will go to the American Red Cross to help Japan,” stated Jake, Dylan and Hrithik in a school announcement.

On the day of the jog event, all students and staff were encouraged to wear red, white and blue in support of the cause. Mostly everyone that participated completed three laps around the field in the back of the school in 20 minutes.

More than $4,000 was raised in the “Jog for Japan” event.
