Light Rain Batter up!
Over 60 gallons of batter, donated by the Pantry Diner, was turned into the pancakes that 1,200 guests at last week’s Breakfast with Santa’s Helpers event enjoyed. Chefs from the diner also donated their time and talents to feed the crowd that filled the Recreation Center’s lobby for three seatings that morning.
Parks and Recreation Director Tony Brunetta said he wants to thank the diner’s Executive Chef, Dino Glykos, for his generosity as well as several other businesses in the village — Brower Avenue Cleaners, Bagelman, King Kullen and the RVC Associated Market and owner Danny Nasta.
Brunetta also wanted to publicly thank Mike Lapkowski, former Rockville Centre Fire Department chief, for his services as Santa that day, the 70 or so Rec Center volunteers and the center’s staff who are indispensible to the event's success.
