Bellmore-Merrick Red Hats walk the red carpet

Posted

Ladies who enjoy a membership in the Red Hat Society don their crimson caps before taking part in any number of silly soirees. The national society is dedicated to one mission -- fun, frivolity and enjoyment of life -- deepened, of course, by the bond that forms when a group of people get together wearing goofy getups.

Members of the local chapter of the Red Hat Society, which is made up of women from Merrick, Bellmore and Wantagh, embraced the society's core value of fun with fashion at a March 9 Oscar night celebration at Pompeii restaurant in West Hempstead.

Digging down to all the details, these divas-for-a-night decked themselves out like Hollywood starlets in honor of the 2010 Academy Awards. They celebrated in style, strutting down a red carpet and posing for the paparazzi. There were even reports of superstar Paul Newman showing his face -- or at least a convincing cardboard cutout of the late A-list heartthrob.
