Posted

Because of inclement weather, Bellmore’s annual Holiday Extravaganza and tree lighting has been postponed.

The event, sponsored by the Chamber of Commerce of the Bellmores, was set for Friday, Dec. 6. Chamber President Debby Izzo confirmed that the Holiday Extravaganza was rescheduled for Friday, Dec. 13.

Chamber representatives said families are encouraged come to Bellmore Village and enjoy free and reduced priced activities on the new date. Festivities are slated to begin at 6 p.m.

Residents will be able to go on horse-and-carriage rides up and down Bedford Avenue, take an old-time trolley on neighboring streets and listen to holiday music. For the first time ever this year, there will also be a live nativity on display.

The holiday tree will be lit at 7 p.m. It will be located at the veterans' memorial, which sits between Bedford Avenue and Broadway, adjacent to the Bellmore train station.
