Hundreds of students from across the Bellmores went back to the classroom on Tuesday morning, as the youngsters headed in for the first day of the 2013-14 academic year.
Students in both the Bellmore and North Bellmore districts returned to school on Sept. 3. Older children who attend school in the Bellmore-Merrick Central High School District will go back to school on Sept. 9.
At Saw Mill Road Elementary School in North Bellmore, the PTA made an extra effort to help the youngest students feel comfortable, printing signs for the kindergartners to welcome them to the school. It was also the first day for the school’s new administrators, Principal Jeffrey Rosof and Assistant Principal Denise Fisher.
