Birch students honored in Valentines for Vets program

Students at Birch Elementary School in Merrick recently took part in the Valentines for Vets program. Through this program, which the Town of Hempstead instituted in 2001, students create valentines to send to local Veterans Affairs hospitals. The town honored the Birch students with certificates for their efforts. Above are town Councilwoman Angie Cullin and Birch Principal Kerri Schlissel, at back, right, and students.
