According to William Vlasak of Nassau County's Department of Public Works, renovations to the three pedestrian bridges over Peninsula Blvd. —that connect the village to Hempstead State Lake Park — is running according to schedule. The project, which began in April and at times has caused traffic tie ups on the road, is expected to be completed in September.
Money for the project came from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, which provided Nassau County with $2,687,345.
