Bus rear-ended in front of Jerusalem Ave. School

Posted

Motorists and a teenager aboard a school bus were unscathed in a car accident in front of the Jerusalem Avenue School last week, according to authorities.

North Bellmore Fire Department officials said that a sedan rear-ended a bus on Jerusalem Avenue at about 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday, June 18. Joseph Domiano, the chief on the scene, said it was unclear whether the bus was coming from the Jerusalem Avenue School, where Nassau BOCES sponsors a special-education program.

A 17-year-old girl was riding the bus when the accident occurred, but Domiano said that she and the drivers were not injured. The bus’s bumper was dented, while the front of the car sustained more extensive damage.

Domiano said one lane of Jerusalem Avenue between the intersections with Bellmore Avenue and Newbridge Road was closed for about 30 minutes.
