Car crashes into Valley Stream pizzeria

Posted

A vehicle crashed through the front of Rosa's Pizza in Valley Stream on Friday morning. No one was hurt.

The car, a black BMW SUV, completely entered the pizzeria after the driver reportedly hit the gas instead of the break and hopped the curb. The business was not open at the time. The accident occurred shortly before 10 a.m.

Nassau County Police and the Valley Stream Fire Department responded to the scene and removed the vehicle. Rosa's Pizza is at the east end of the shopping center that spans from Payan to Ballard Avenues on West Merrick Road.

“There was bricks and glass to the back of the building," Mayor Ed Fare said. “It was very, very lucky it wasn’t open.”

The vehicle destroyed a brick wall and two windows. There was no structural damaged to the building and the front doors remained intact. “It doesn’t jeopardize the building in any way," said village Building Inspector Tom Viani. “They can actually open up but they will have to do a lot of clean up first.”
