Hillel Caterers is the exclusive caterer of Temple Hillel in North Woodmere. As the synagogue is “conservadox,” they are Glatt Kosher under the strict supervision of the Kof-K, with a “mashgiach t’midi” on premises at all times. Also present at every function is Ira Polansky, the owner of Hillel Caterers, who ensures that sure that everything runs perfectly.

You will be dealing with an expert, as Polansky boasts superior education and credentials and more than 30 years of experience in the food industry. An American Culinary Federation Certified Chef, he holds a master’s degree in Managerial Technology, a bachelor’s degree in Food Service Management, and an associate of Occupational Science — Culinary Arts from Johnston & Wales University, where he was awarded a teaching fellowship. As an assistant professor at Kingsborough Community College, he designed and taught a five-course culinary curriculum with the Department of Tourism and Hospitality.

Prior to Hillel, Polansky owned Eden Caterers in Mill Basin, Brooklyn. Among other employment he has been executive chef for El Caribe Caterers, where he specialized in Italian and international cuisine, assistant food service director at Bryant College, and executive banquet manager at Levenstein & Sarnoffer Caterers, another kosher caterer in Brooklyn.
