Chamber reveals new welcome sign

Posted

Welcome Back!

I hope everyone had a great holiday and remembered to patronize our local businesses. Our last Chamber meeting was held at Sonny’s Canal house and was our annual “Thank You” lunch. This was our chance to thank all of the businesses and residents who have helped the Chamber throughout the year. These are the community minded people who have donated their time, money, talents and services to make events like the Baldwin picnic, firework show and holiday tree lighting the huge successes they are. We truly have a great community willing to help out whenever help is needed. Among those thanked was Baldwin Herald editor Chris Connolly. Chris is always there to publish events and articles (like this one) to help keep the spotlight on all the good that is done within our community. For that, we thank him.

One of the other members we thanked was Pete Meitenkorte. The “Welcome to Baldwin” signs have been a topic of discussion for quite some time now and the promised money from the County looks like it may never arrive. Thankfully, Pete is a woodworker who was able to make the signs for us at a fraction of what they would have cost the Chamber. In fact, the first one went up last week on Sunrise Highway! (See photo above.) We have commissioned Pete to make more signs for us, and they will be installed as Pete is able to make them. This is one more way the Chamber is helping to improve Baldwin.

Since it is never too early to fundraise, we have our first sponsor for the fireworks show! Tony Santino has already given $1000.00 towards the show. Thank you. We greatly appreciate it!!

That’s all for now, but thanks for reading. Keep your eyes out for another recap of Chamber activities in a few weeks.
