Two students from Davison Avenue Intermediate School in the Malverne school district were recently honored by the Board of Education and Superintendent Dr. Jim Hunderfund for their charitable actions.
At the board’s Feb. 8 meeting, fourth grader Lucy Elvir Bulnes and third grader Amanda Christodoulou each received a special certificate of recognition for donating approximately 10 inches of their hair to Locks of Love — a public, nonprofit organization that provides hairpieces to financially disadvantaged children under the age of 18 who are suffering from long-term medical illnesses that result in hair loss.
