Students from Francis X. Hegarty School’s Third and Fourth Grade Show Select Ensemble made this year’s appearance at the Long Island Music Festival one to remember. The 32-member chorus earned top honors as they received superior ratings for the songs they performed before the judges. The Long Island Music Festival, held this year in Brentwood, is an annual event and features vocal and instrumental performances from schools across Long Island.

“The students were a little nervous as they prepared to perform, but I think their nervous energy helped them perform at a higher level,” said Marie Sambolin, the school’s music teacher and chorus director. According to Ms. Sambolin, this was the highest rating ever achieved by a Hegarty chorus.

The members of the chorus are: Third Grade: Nico Thertus, Kirsten Lilly, Celeste Consigli, Cassidy Pena, Erin, Khankan, Fabiana Boncina, Kaelyn Polete, Sophia Cerreto, Emily Feil, Elizabeth Khankan, Emmalee Egan, Jessica Vobis, Izabella Laine.
