The W.T. Clarke Athletic Parents and Booster Club is holding its annual Winter Fundraiser at Borrelli’s Restaurant on Friday, Feb. 11 at 8:30 p.m.

The club has been supporting Clarke’s student athletes since 1975 and has awarded more than $100,000 in scholarships over the years. Last year, the club gave out 32 scholarships totaling over $14,500.

To achieve their goals, the club hosts three fundraisers a year, sells sports fan merchandise and runs a concession stand for  home games in the fall and spring.

The Booster Club meets once a month to discuss the needs of the school’s athletic teams and plan for future events. Co-Presidents Kim Gottstein and Wally Kakareko have set this year’s goal at $18,000 to go toward scholarships. “In a nutshell, our club tries to support our athletes in every way we can,” Gottstein said.

The Booster Club also provides trophies, plaques and certificates for the middle school and high school athletic award recipients, coordinates homecoming and provides banners to the athletic department.

Club leaders said they are getting new scoreboard for the football field that should be ready for the spring sports season. The club also hosts Lottery Lunacy on April 9 and the annual Golf Outing on June 9.

Admission to the Winter Fundraiser is $10 and includes a buffet dinner, cash bar and live music and dancing. There will also be raffles. For more information, call Kakareko at  (516) 233-7896 or Gottstein at (516) 639-9804.
