Community Fest is back and better than ever

Posted

After a two-year pause from the Covid pandemic, Rockaway Avenue was shut down as Valley Stream saw the return of its Annual Community Fest on Oct. 22. Various community and government organizations gathered to bring a day of music, food, and fun-filled treats for everyone at the village’s business district.

“We have this year close to two hundred vendors. We’re glad to be back, and the community is happy that we’re back,” said event director Marie McNair.  “We have great sponsors. You can tell there is a great deal of community spirit and people wanting to be involved. Our mission is to bring the community together and celebrate its diversity.”

Students from Valley Stream Central High School and surrounding religious schools served as community volunteers during the event.

“It is great to see everyone out enjoying this beautiful day in Valley Stream’s vibrant downtown,” remarked Deputy Mayor John Tufarelli. “We always say, ‘Valley Stream is open for business’ and today we are welcoming hundreds of Valley Streamers and visitors from near and far to enjoy all that our downtown has to offer.  I would like to give a great thanks to Marie and her team for the many hours of hard work that went into making this event such a tremendous success.”
