A Woodmere man was arrested on Wednesday and charged with attempting to lure young girls into his car in the Bellmore area on multiple occasions, police said.

First Squad detectives from the Nassau County Police Department reported that Michael Chemick, 23, asked teenaged girls to get in his car in the afternoon on Sept. 26 and Oct. 15. The victims are both under age 16.

Police said Chemick, who drives a blue 2010 Honda Accord, approached a 14-year-old-girl who was walking near Fish Avenue and Newbridge Road in North Bellmore on Sept. 26 at 2:40 p.m. The defendant reportedly rolled down his window and asked the victim to come over to the vehicle. According to police, he began asking her questions and yelled obscenities and exposed himself to her. She backed away from the car and ran away, police explained.

According to police, Chemick also allegedly approached another Bellmore teen last week.

At 3 p.m. on Oct. 15, police said Chemick attempted to stop a female victim, 15, who was walking near Beltagh and Jefferson avenues in Bellmore. He kept asking to talk to her, according to a police report. The victim said that this was the third time in two weeks that Chemick tried to speak with her and/or followed her around in his car.

The teens were not injured, police said.

Officials arrested Chemick outside his Woodmere home on Oct. 17. He was charged with attempted luring of a child, two counts of endangering the welfare of a child and third-degree stalking. At press time, he was to be arraigned in First District Court in Hempstead on Oct. 18.
