Crime Watch for East Rockaway and Lynbrook

Robbed at Capri
The Fifth Squad is investigating a robbery that occurred in Lynbrook on Thursday, July 8 at 12:10 a.m.
According to detectives, a 24-year-old male victim and a 21-year-old female victim were forced at gunpoint into a room at the Capri Lynbrook Motor Inn, located at 5 Freer Street in Lynbrook, by a male black subject, approximately 18 years old, 130 lbs., wearing a white T-shirt and blue jeans. The subject took a laptop computer and two cell phones and fled the scene on foot toward Scranton Avenue. The victims followed the subject and he ran back to Freer Street where they lost sight of him.
Detectives are requesting anyone with information regarding this crime to contact the Nassau County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS. All calls are confidential and all callers will remain anonymous.

Repair ruse
The Fifth Squad reports the details of a grand p.m. in Lynbrook.
According to detectives, an elderly couple was in their home on Peninsula Boulevard when a Hispanic male in his 50’s knocked on their door and offered to perform a roof repair for them for $350.
The victims noticed two Hispanic females, one her 40’s and one in her 60’s, and a young female approximately 6 years of age, sitting in a black pick up truck. The victims agreed to the repair and allowed the two women and the child into the house to stay cool.
The victims retrieved $350 from a container in which they keep cash, replaced the lid and laid it in the sink. They paid the male subject and were momentarily distracted when he asked to use the restroom. When the subjects left the house, the victims noticed the container was on the countertop and the remaining cash was missing.
Detectives request anyone with information about this larceny to contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS. All callers will remain anonymous.

Arrests
On July 7 at 9 a.m., a 30-year-old of North Valley Stream, was arrested for aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle on Atlantic Avenue in Lynbrook.

On July 7 at 12:07 p.m., two women, one 19-year-old from Amityville, and a 20-year-old of Brentwood, were arrested for burglary on Sunrise Highway in Lynbrook. According to police, the burglary took place on Walnut Street in Lynbrook.

On July 7, an 18-year-old man of Valley Stream, was arrested on Sunrise Highway in Lynbrook for possession of two stolen license plates.

Criminal mischief
Sometime between 7 p.m. on July 1 and 8:30 a.m. on July 2, a victim’s car was keyed while parked in a driveway located on Cammerer Avenue in East Rockaway.

Identity theft

A resident of Atlantic Avenue in East Rockaway reported being the victim of identify theft when multiple fraudulent charges were made to their Bank of America credit card.
