Crime Watch: Lynbrook, East Rockaway

Arrests
On Nov. 14 at 11 p.m., a 19-year-old Valley Stream woman was arrested and charged with unlawful possession of marijuana on Sunrise Highway in Lynbrook.
On Nov. 16 at 2:25 a.m., a 25-year-old, of Queens Village, was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated and improper lane usage on Peninsula Boulevard in Lynbrook.
On Nov. 18 at 11:25 p.m., a 20-year-old of Garden City, was arrested and charged with unlawful possession of marijuana on Scranton Avenue in Lynbrook.

Attempted grand larceny
At 10:30 a.m. on Nov. 21, the owner of Gulf gas station located at 265 Sunrise Hwy. in Lynbrook reported that an unknown person(s) placed an electronic credit card reader on one of the gas pumps in an attempt to secure his customers credit card information.

Attempted petit larceny
At 4 p.m. on Nov. 21, a white male attempted to exit Rite Aid at 400 Sunrise Hwy. in Lynbrook when the store security sensor activated. The male was approximately 50-55 years old, between 6’2” and 6’4”, wearing black jeans, blue t-shirt, green jacket, tan hat and black sneakers, police said. According to police, the store cashier asked the male to walk back to the manager’s office. At that time, the male reached into his jacket and removed a Craig touch screen tablet valued at $120 and handed to the cashier. The male then exited the store, and left in a two-door, gold vehicle westbound on Sunrise Highway.
Criminal mischief
On Nov. 20 at 2 a.m., an unknown person(s) caused damage to the fence surrounding a residence on Waverly Avenue in East Rockaway.

Grand larceny
n At 9:50 a.m. on Nov. 17, it was reported to police that an unknown person(s) took a camera bag containing a Canon video camera and flash, batteries and compact flash cards from in front of an address on Scranton Avenue in Lynbrook. According to police, the stolen items are valued at $4,745.
n At 12:15 p.m. on Nov. 22, the complainant reported that an unknown person(s) took their New York state drivers license, social security card, credit card and $300 from their wallet. According to police, the larceny occurred between Nov. 2 and 22 from their home on Doxsey Place in Lynbrook.

Suspicious incident

On Nov. 19 at 6:45 p.m., a white male pulled up to Starbucks, 659 Sunrise Highway in Lynbrook. in a new-model, black Ford Mustang The male was approximately 30 years old, 6’0”, 150 pounds, thin build, short black hair, blue eyes wearing black jeans, blue button down shirt, and black jacket. According to police, the male started to wave and motion to an 11-year-old boy who was sitting at a table by the front window. The 11- year-old boy did not respond to the male and remained seated. The male then entered the store and ordered a cup of coffee. Upon exiting the store, the male stopped and said hello to the 11- year -old boy and told him that he knew him. The male then exited the store and left the scene.
