The Oceanside Library held its First Annual Crossword Puzzle Contest on Oct. 3. The contestants tried their hands at unpublished New York Times puzzles, donated by Will Shortz, the Times’ puzzle editor. Four top puzzlers finished the first three rounds with perfect scores. In the final round, Lisa Fabrizio edged out Jeff Mizrahi by a matter of minutes. Participants said they are anxiously awaiting next year’s contest.
