Dance company visits nursery school

The students at Grace Methodist Nursery School participated in a special program on April 29, hosting an arts education dance session offered by a Manhattan-based dance company.

Anastasia Soroczynski of Rioult Dance New York led the children in modern dance exercises, helping them to “gain experience moving.” She said the exposure is good for young children. “The basic principal is that it’s something everyone can do,” she said.

The company’s program, DanceREACH, sends touring instructors to places around the country, including hospitals and schools, to expose children to the benefits of choreographed movement. Soroczynski said the visit to Valley Stream was part of an effort to reach out to Long Island.

Diane Panzarino, the school’s director, was surprised at the level at which the students performed. “They were doing so well.”
