Darcy supportive on FEMA issue

To the Editor:

In recent editions of the Herald, there was little or no mention of the hard work done by our Hempstead town councilman, Jim Darcy, in the matter of FEMA against the residents of Valley Stream. Mr. Darcy did some hard work finding places to hold meetings and getting the citizens out to attend those meetings.

He also brought about the involvement of Rep. Carolyn McCarthy and Sen. Charles Schumer on the issue. The representatives of FEMA were brought in by Jim Darcy to participate in these meetings. When one venue wasn’t large enough to accommodate the large turnout of citizens, he found still more space for the interest that he engendered.

It is this quality of activism of the part of a civic leader, such as Darcy, which makes Democracy work in Valley Stream. Darcy is supporting us. We should go on supporting him.
