Detectives investigating N. Bellmore burglary

Nassau County Police detectives are investigating a North Bellmore burglary that took place at about 10:30 p.m. on July 2.

Officials said an unidentified man broke into a couple’s home on South Carley Court. Nothing was stolen, and police are searching for the suspect.

The homeowner, 62, told police that he and his wife were in their bedroom when they heard a loud bang. Their alarm system sounded, and the homeowner left his room to see what had happened.

The homeowner encountered the suspect in the hall. The man ran out the back door, which he had broken to enter the house. The homeowner then called police. No injuries were reported.

The suspect’s race is unknown, detectives said. He was described as about 6-foot-3, with a black, knit hat, tan jacket or hoodie, black pants, black gloves and a black handkerchief covering his face.
