Fabayo McIntosh was named the Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction for Valley Stream Union Free School District Thirteen. McIntosh succeeds Dr. Judith LaRocca who was appointed the district’s Superintendent of Schools on January 15. The Board approved the appointment of McIntosh at its January 25, 2022 Board of Education meeting.

McIntosh has over 20 years of educational experience ranging from school district administration, curriculum development, human resource management, and teaching. McIntosh earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice from Lincoln University and her Master of Arts in Elementary and Special Education from Touro College, School of Education. McIntosh also holds a Master of Science in Educational Leadership from Bank Street Principal Institute.

“I am grateful for the opportunity to make an immediate and positive contribution to the faculty and students of Valley Stream 13 and the community at large,” said McIntosh. “I look forward to establishing and maintaining a culture focused on student learning and achievement, leadership development, and empowerment for improved outcomes for all students in all our schools.”

During her time in New York City, McIntosh has spearheaded several important educational initiatives. In 2015, as principal in District 16 for the New York City Department of Education, she was recognized by the NY Education Department for her leadership that catalyzed her school into making the most progress on the NYS English Language Arts assessment. She pioneered the opening of the first Spanish Dual Language program in District 16 and led an educational partnership tasked with revitalizing education in Harlem, New York. McIntosh is now a member of the nationally recognized leadership preparatory program, New Leaders for New Schools, whose mission is to ensure high academic achievement for every student by attracting and preparing outstanding educational leaders. “Ms. McIntosh has a great wealth of experience, qualities, and characteristics that represent our District’s commitment to students’ educational success and well-being,” said Dr. LaRocca.
