District 13 seeks board trustee

Interviews for vacancy to begin in September

The District 13 Board of Education is seeking a qualified candidate to fill a vacancy until the annual school district election, May 17, 2011. Thomas Speranza resigned from the board last month.

Board of Education Trustees must be at least 18 years old, a United States citizen, able to read and write, have resided in District 13 continuously for one year, have not been removed from any school district office within the past year, not reside with another member of the same school board as a member of the same family, not a current district employee and not simultaneously hold another incompatible public office. 

Individuals interested in applying for this volunteer position can send a letter to the Valley Stream Union Free School District Thirteen Board of Education President, c/o District Clerk, Valley Stream UFSD Thirteen, 585 North Corona Avenue, Valley Stream, New York 11580 by Sept. 1. The letter must include a brief biography, why the candidate believes he or she should be considered, and a brief description of any skills or experiences the Board should take into consideration.

Letters postmarked after Sept. 1, 2010, will not be considered. Interviews will be conducted by the Board of Education during the month of September.
