Downing kids collect cans

With the help of Student Council advisor Marguerite Robles and Principal Margaret McDaid, students at the Maurice W. Downing Primary School in Malverne organized a holiday food drive.

Student Council members at the Maurice W. Downing Primary School in Malverne organized a holiday food drive, collecting hundreds of cans of food as part of a year-long community service project called “Teamwork Makes the Dream Work.” The food will be distributed to those in need within the school family. The students also traveled to Atria Senior Living to sing holiday songs to residents. Earlier in the year, the students participated in the district breast cancer walk and raised $1,100 trick-or-treating for UNICEF. Students work under the guidance of Student Council advisor Marguerite Robles.
