Voters overwhelmingly passed the East Meadow School District's proposed 2014-15 budget of $191 million on Tuesday night, with 1,951 'yes' votes to 597 'no' votes.

The budget, a 1.53 percent increase from this year, will have a tax levy of $133.5 million, a 1.89 percent increase.

Scott Eckers was elected to the Board of Education, defeating four-year incumbent Corey Fanelli. Eckers, who was a first-time challenger, will serve a three-year term.

Joseph Danenza, who ran unopposed, was also re-elected to a three-year term.

The East Meadow Public Library's proposed budget of $7.05 million was also passed overwhelmingly by voters, 1,933 to 534. Trustee Janet Barsky, who ran unopposed, was re-elected.
