Education commissioner visits Rockville Centre schools

On Friday, May 20, Commissioner of Education Mary Ellen Elia and Regent Roger Tilles visited the Rockville Centre Schools. The visit was prompted by an opportunity to see the district’s computer-based assessment process. The district provided valuable insight into this adaptive testing process and the ease of its administration. During the course of the Commissioner’s stay, she also stopped by to see the Centre Stage students in rehearsals for their recent show, “Calendar Catastrophe.”

Although she was only able to visit for approximately two hours, she had the opportunity to converse with administration on a variety of topics, including International Baccalaureate English and Social Studies for all, meet some teachers and see students in action.
