Elmont gas station robbed

Nassau County Police are searching for a man who robbed a gas station in Elmont on Feb. 20.

According to detectives, at 4:20 p.m. on Saturday, a man wearing a ski mask entered the Shell gas station located at 1360 Hempstead Turnpike in Elmont. The suspect walked behind the counter and demanded the clerk, a 24 year-old man, open the cash register.

The victim complied and gave the man an undisclosed amount of cash. The suspect then fled north, on foot, up Covert Avenue. There were no injuries reported at the scene.

The suspect is described as 5 feet 10 inches tall, with a heavy build, and wearing a black sweatshirt, blue jeans, a black ski mask and gloves.
