FEMA schedules another meeting in Valley Stream

Representatives from the Federal Emergency Managment Agency will return to Valley Stream for a second time to answer questions about the new flood maps, which went into effect about a year ago.

FEMA officials will be at Central High School on Thursday, Oct. 7. The meeting will begin at 7:30 p.m. in the auditorium.

On Aug. 31, more than 200 people were denied entry to a meeting with FEMA officials because there was not enough room in the Village Hall court room to accommodate the crowd. Town Councilman Jim Darcy requested another meeting, and FEMA officials agreed to come back.

Thursday night's meeting is open to all village and town residents in the Valley Stream area who have been included in the high-risk flood zone.
