Female pedestrian hit by car in East Meadow

A female pedestrian was hit by a car in front of Cheaper Peepers near Hempstead Turnpike in East Meadow on Jan.11 at 6:41 p.m., police said.

According to officers, the 45-year-old woman, of Malverne, was struck by a black Nissan Maxima and was transported by ambulance to Nassau University Medical Center.

“There was a female walking in the parking lot when one of the cars struck her,” police said. She was expected to be “O.K.”

The driver was a 54-year-old male from Bellmore, police said. “There was no criminality,” a public information officer added.

Hempstead Turnpike was closed from Carman to Prospect Avenues for approximately 30 minutes while police investigated the incident.

The East Meadow Fire Department and Nassau County officers, detectives and crime scene search unit responded to the scene.
