The Elmont Fire Department fought a fire that broke out in the garage of a Litchfield Avenue home in Elmont on July 29, preventing the blaze from reaching the main house.

Firefighters responded to the call at 7:08 p.m. Chief Rob Schriefer arrived at the scene two minutes after the call went out, and two fire trucks and other units followed. The blaze was put out in “short order,” according to the department.

No injuries were reported. The Nassau County Fire Marshal’s office is investigating the cause.
