An early-morning blaze in a two-story home in Island Park brought 50 firefighters to the scene last Sunday. According to Island Park Fire Chief Anthony D’Esposito, they arrived at 57 Radcliffe Road at 4 a.m. to find heavy fire in the building. After a search, it was determined that all the occupants had escaped safely with no injuries.

Firefighters from Island Park, Long Beach, Oceanside, Baldwin and Point Lookout-Lido Beach responded, under the command of Oceanside Assistant Chief Ed Madden. A few firefighters suffered minor injuries but were treated at the scene.

The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Nassau County fire marshal.
