The city held its annual Fireworks Extravaganza last Friday, after the show was cancelled in July when a barge that puts on the offshore display was unable to access the beachfront due to heavy surf.
The evening featured a sea of vendors along the boardwalk, a concert by former American Idol contestant Robbie Rosen at Long Beach Boulevard beach, and a stunning display by Bay Fireworks. Sponsors included Bethpage Federal Credit Union, Sunpower by EmPower Solar and Honest Tea.
“Thank you to everybody who came out on Friday night for our special Labor Day weekend fireworks show,” City Manager Jack Schnirman said at Tuesday’s City Council meeting. “We’re thrilled that the waters remained calm so that thousands of folks were able to enjoy our beautiful show on the beach.”
