Emergency medical service personnel and firefighters from the Inwood, Lawrence-Cedarhurst and Meadowmere Park volunteer fire departments and Nassau County police responded to a call of a man in the water behind Costco in North Lawrence at 10:38 p.m. on Oct. 23.

Using what officials described as a “hauling system” the man was lifted out of the water and up an 8-foot sea wall. He was taken to a local hospital and termed “an active crime scene.” Several NCPD officers were treated for minor injuries, officials said.
