Flexitoon Puppets present 'Hamlin' this weekend

The story of the Pied Piper of Hamlin is staged at Nassau County Museum of Art

The renowned Flexitoon Puppets, seen on PBS, HBO and Nickelodeon, visit Nassau County Museum of Art with their new adaptation of Hamlin, the classic ‘telling- the-truth” tale about the Pied Piper of Hamlin. The story is told by a colorful troupe of puppets and marionettes with scenery, shadow animation, blacklights, and special effects. Characters include the Piper, who is a cat in this production; a little girl named Bree; Monsieur Roquefort, a cheesemaker; and CooCoo Roacha, a Jiminy Cricket-style roach, who is also the Piper’s manager.

Pet Adoptathon
North Shore Animal League opens its doors to encourage animal lovers to welcome a new companion into the family at its annual 36-hour adoption event, Pet Adoptathon 2012. Beginning at 9 a.m. on Saturday, North Shore Animal League joins animal shelters around the world in this global adoption effort, sponsored by Purina ONE®, to help save the lives of homeless pets. Over 700 puppies, kittens, dogs and cats will be ready to find a new home. The event features family activities, including performances by the Purina Incredible Dog Team, arts and crafts, and much more.

Musical Cuisine
Chamber Players International celebrates the masterworks of Schubert at a brunch/concert with pianist Olga Vinokur. The program features the great, dramatic Piano Trio in E-flat. Vinokur, who has had a celebrated career that has taken her across North America and throughout the world, joins other core ensemble players in this performance.
