Folks flood Bellmore street festival

Posted

The Bellmore Family Street Festival annually attracts 100,000 to 120,000 people, and judging by appearances, this past weekend’s fair was no exception.

The Chamber of Commerce of the Bellmores sponsors the festival, which is touted as Nassau County’s largest family fair.

This past weekend, people from across Long Island flooded Bedford Avenue and its environs in downtown Bellmore to take in the numerous booths set up by local businesses, enjoy the entertainment at the Town of Hempstead’s showmobile, ride the rides at the carnival, and chow down on the loads of fair food provided by the Lions Club, Sons of Italy and Knight of Columbus.

The Bellmore Herald, a Silver Sponsor of the fair, set up its booth in front of Petite Florist on Pettit Avenue. We’re thankful to Petite Florist for allowing us to store our gear overnight at the shop, as well as to the hundreds of fair-goers who stopped by to grab the latest edition of the Herald, take a spin on our prize wheel or simply chat.
