Four administrators join Seaford School District

The Seaford School District welcomes four new administrators for the 2018-19 school year.

Marie Donnelly is the new assistant superintendent for business and operations. She comes to Seaford from the Island Park School District, where she was the school business official for three and a half years.

Previously, she worked in the East Meadow, Plainedge and Levittown school districts. Donnelly holds a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from SUNY Albany, a master’s degree in business from Adelphi University and school business and school district administrator degrees from LIU Post. Donnelly also sits on the Seaford School District’s Security Guard Staffing Committee.

Mary Catherine Culella-Sun is the new director of pupil personnel services, in which she will supervise special education staff, guidance counselors, nurses, psychologists and social workers. She was the assistant director for special education in the Island Trees School District for the past five years, and was also a special education teacher in Valley Stream District 13 and New York City. Culella-Sun holds a bachelor’s degree in criminology from John Jay College, a master’s degree in inclusive education from Adelphi College, a master’s degree in special education from Queens College and a master’s degree in educational leadership from the College of Saint Rose. She is presently pursuing her doctorate in educational leadership at Concordia University.

Tom Lynch joins Seaford in the new position of executive director of instructional technology and STEM. He will work closely with building administrators and teachers to implement the Personal Digital Learning initiative at the secondary level, which provides students with their own laptops. He will also work with staff at all levels to expand the STEM program, which focuses on science, technology, engineering and math. Lynch has 25 years of experience in education, including 14 as an administrator. He previously was the director for science, engineering and technology for grades 6-12 in the Roslyn School District. He holds a bachelor’s degree in physics and astronomy and a master’s degree in technology system management, both from Stony Brook University.

Russell Costa is the new director of facilities, a position he held in Valley Stream District 30 for the past five years. He previously worked in the facilities departments in the Hicksville, Mineola and New York City school districts. In Seaford, he will oversee the upkeep of the district’s buildings and grounds, supervise the facilities staff and coordinate work with outside contractors.
