Freeport man arrested for string of robberies

Freeport resident Johnny Cerda was arrested yesterday by Nassau County police and agents from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms this morning for allegedly conspiring to "obstruct, delay and affect commerce and the movement of articles and commodities in commerce by robbery" in Nassau County, according to United States District Court officials.

Officials say Cerda, 28, was involved with robberies in Baldwin and Merrick. He was scheduled to appear in New York Eastern District Court.
